1906 – Aftermath of San Francisco Earthquake
A 7.9 earthquake struck Northern California in the early hours on April 18, 1906. Roughly 3,000 people died when the quake struck the unsuspecting city. The earthquake resulted in uncontrollable fires that engulfed everything in its path. The natural disaster caused an estimated $40 0million dollars of damage (roughly $10.9 billion today).
