2. 1901 — Radio Technology
In 1901, five Hawaiian islands received the first ever radiotelegraph service. In 1912, the first transpacific radiotelegraph service was established between Hawaii and San Francisco. In 1915, true radio broadcasting took place when the transmission of speech took place between New York City to San Francisco and across the Atlantic ocean. In 1933, the FM (frequency-modulated) radio was invented by Edwin Howard Armstrong. FM helped improve the audio signal by controlling the static noise caused by electrical equipment. The AM (amplitude-modulated) radio made it possible to access numerous radio stations. In 1935, the first telephone call was made around the world using wire and radio circuits. This invention has been built upon and utilized as a vital form of communication as well as for entertainment.
